London – John Terry created the only goal of the match Chelsea vs Liverpool on Saturday (10/5) night at Stamford Bridge. Terry was now bagged the title as the most fertile in the Premier League defender.
Terry’s header goal in the game was brought Chelsea 1-0. However, Liverpool could be equalized through a header from Steven Gerrard shortly before halftime.
With the addition of these goals, Terry now collecting 39 goals in the Premier League. He beat the defender fertile such as David Unsworth (38 goals), Ian Harte (28 goals), Leighton Baines (26 goals) and William Gallas (25 goals).
However, Terry did not seem to think about the record. For him, taking Chelsea to be champions this season has been quite satisfactory.
“(I’m) very happy (to record it), but a champion is more important because that’s what I want,” said the 34-year-old defender to the Premier League website.
Terry has extended his contract with Chelsea. Thus, next season he will still be playing with the Blues and the chance to add to his tally.
Interestingly, in addition to goals from Terry, Chelsea’s defenders are now collecting a total of 19 goals in all competitions this season. According to Opta note, that number more than Liverpool’s attackers in total have scored 13 goals in all competitions.
