Madrid – Atletico Madrid confirmed through to the last 16 of the Champions League thanks to a landslide victory over Olympiakos. Los colchoneros now wants to secure its position as group winners.
Atletico beat Olympiakos 4-0 in a match at the Vicente Calderon, Madrid, Thursday (11/27/2014) pm dawn. Raul Garcia scored the opener before a hat-trick Mario Mandzukic solidify the home team victory.
Thanks to the victory, Atletico more robust at the top of the standings of Group A with a collection of 12 points from five games. Diego Simeone’s team made it there over Juventus (9 points), Olympiakos (6 points), and Malmo (3 points).
Matchday 6, 9 December, Atletico will travel to Turin to face Juventus host. They will be group winners, as long as it is not lost by two goals or more in the game.
“There are other games, but this (against Olympiakos) is an important game after we lost in Greece,” said Garcia to the US.
“Finish in the top position was our target from the start. But we know the game in Italy will be very complicated,” he said.
